Dog grooming prices in Woodside, NY

Every figure below is the honest middle for a coat in reasonable condition, and it includes the bath, the hand-dry, nails, ears and a sanitary tidy unless the row says otherwise. Call with your pet's breed, weight and roughly when it was last groomed, and we will turn this into a firm number for the animal actually in front of us.

Before the numbers

What a price on this page actually includes

Grooming is priced by the animal in front of us, not by a menu alone. A full groom on a 9lb maltese and a full groom on a 90lb newfoundland are not the same job, and a coat brushed every week is not the same job as the same coat left for six months. The figures below are the honest middle for a coat in reasonable condition, they include the bath, the hand-dry, nails, ears and a sanitary tidy, and you will be given a firm price for your animal before anything starts. Call with your pet's breed, weight and roughly when it was last groomed, and we will tell you the number on the phone.

  • The bath, the hand-dry, nails, ears and a sanitary tidy, included in every full groom.
  • The honest middle for a coat in reasonable condition, not the cheapest coat we have ever seen.
  • A firm, animal-specific price agreed at the coat check, before the clippers come out.
  • Call with your pet's breed, weight and roughly when it was last groomed for the real number.

Before the price list

Every price below is one of four kinds of appointment

Most visits combine more than one of these in a single price — a full groom already has nails, ears and a sanitary tidy built in.

  • Dog Grooming

The full appointment: a bath, a proper hand-dry, and a haircut that suits the coat your dog actually has. Everything from a wash-and-tidy to a breed trim, hand-stripping for wire coats, and a first haircut for a puppy who has never seen a pair of clippers.

  • Cat & Small Pet

Cats are not small dogs and rabbits are not small cats. These appointments happen in a separate quiet room, on a different rhythm, with no dryer noise and no dog within earshot — and they are booked longer than the job needs, because a rushed cat is a cat you cannot finish.

  • Bath, Skin & Coat

Everything that happens in the tub and afterwards: soothing oatmeal baths, a bath to wash fleas and ticks off a coat, deep cleaning for the dog who found something unspeakable, conditioning for a coat that has gone dry, and the honest de-matting conversation.

  • Nails, Teeth & Quick Visits

The fifteen-minute jobs that do not need a whole appointment. Nails clipped or ground smooth, ears wiped out, a sanitary and paw tidy between full grooms, cosmetic tooth brushing, and walk-in slots for the things you suddenly notice on a Saturday morning.

If you would rather not think about it

Pay as you go, or put the coat on a rhythm

Most clients use pay as you go and never sign anything. The Regular and The Full Coat spread a year of grooming into one predictable monthly figure instead of one bill every few weeks.

Pay as you go

A fair question

Why two salons quote differently for the same dog

A full groom at one salon and a full groom at another are not always the same product, and the gap is rarely dishonesty on either side. It usually comes down to one of five things, and you are entitled to ask about all of them before you compare two numbers.

  • Time

A groomer with forty-five minutes for your dog and a groomer with two hours are pricing two different jobs, even when the number on the board looks the same. The extra time goes into slower, more careful clipper work, brushing before the bath rather than only after it, and enough slack in the day that a nervous dog gets a pause instead of being pushed through to the next appointment.

  • One animal at a time, or several at once

Some shops run several dogs through at once, bathed and dried together and moved along a line of stations so more animals pass through in a day. That is not automatically careless, but it does mean nobody is with your dog for the whole appointment, and it is one honest reason a busier shop can charge less. Here, one groomer takes one animal from the coat check to collection, which costs more in staff time and is priced accordingly.

  • Hand-drying, never a cage dryer

A heated cage dryer finishes several dogs unattended at once, which is genuinely faster and exactly why it costs less to run. We do not use them: every animal here is hand-dried by the person grooming it, which takes a groomer's full attention for the whole dry rather than a fraction of it, and that labour is in the price rather than left out of it.

  • What is actually included

A price that includes nails, ears and a sanitary tidy is not the same product as a price for the haircut alone, even when the two numbers look close over the phone. Ask exactly what is bundled before you compare two salons, because a low number that means bath-only is describing a shorter service than the same number covering a whole appointment.

  • The coat in front of us

Two dogs of the same breed and the same weight can be a twenty-minute brush-out or an hour of careful de-matting depending on what has happened to the coat since the last visit. A price given over the phone is always an estimate for the ordinary case; the coat check is where it becomes a real number, and if it goes up from what we said on the phone, you hear that before we start, never after.

Grooming is not veterinary care. Grooming is grooming, not veterinary care. This page describes a service we offer. It is general information, and it is not a diagnosis, a treatment or veterinary advice for any particular animal. We are groomers, not veterinarians — we do not diagnose, we do not prescribe and we do not treat medical conditions. If your pet has a wound, a lump, an ear or skin problem, a limp or anything that worries you, speak to a licensed veterinarian who can actually examine it.

How we handle your animal. We do not sedate animals and we never will — sedation is a veterinary decision made by a veterinarian, not a grooming shortcut. We use no heated cage dryers of any kind, and no animal is ever left alone with a dryer running. Every pet is hand-dried by the person grooming it. If your animal tells us clearly that it has had enough, we stop, and you get an honest conversation instead of a finished haircut.

Questions

Pricing — the questions we are asked most

How much does a full dog groom cost in Woodside?

A full groom — bath, hand-dry, haircut, nails, ears and a sanitary tidy — is $85 for a small dog up to 20lb, $105 for a medium dog, $135 for a large dog and $165 for anything over 80lb. Those figures assume a coat in reasonable condition; a badly matted coat takes longer and costs more, and you are told that at the coat check, before anything starts.

Is the price the same every time my dog comes in?

Only if the coat is in the same condition. A dog groomed on schedule every six weeks is usually the same number every visit. A dog that comes in after five months, or has picked up mats since the last groom, will cost more that time, because there is genuinely more work in it — and we tell you the number before we start, not at collection.

What does the price of a full groom actually include?

The bath, a full hand-dry, the haircut itself, nail clipping, an outer-ear wipe and a sanitary tidy underneath — all in the one figure on this page. Anything beyond that, such as de-shedding, de-matting past the first fifteen minutes, or a soothing or deep-cleaning bath, is priced separately and always agreed with you first.

Why does de-matting cost extra rather than being part of the groom?

Because it is not a fixed amount of work — a coat that mostly needs brushing and a coat that is felted to the skin are minutes apart to look at and hours apart to actually deal with. De-matting is billed at $25 per fifteen minutes and capped at thirty minutes by policy; past that, we talk to you about a short clip instead.

Do you charge extra for nails or ears during a full groom?

No — nail clipping, an outer-ear wipe and a sanitary tidy are already included in every full groom and every bath and brush on this page. Booked on their own, outside a full appointment, a nail trim is $20, a nail trim with grinding is $30, and ear cleaning is $15.

Why is de-shedding priced as a range rather than one figure?

De-shedding is $30 to $55 depending on the animal's size, in the same way a full groom is priced by weight band. A de-shed on a small dog and a de-shed on a giant breed use a very different amount of shampoo, water and hand-drying time, so one flat number would overcharge the small dogs to subsidise the large ones.

Can I get a firm price over the phone?

For most coats, yes — tell us the breed, the weight and roughly when your pet was last groomed and we can usually give you a real number on the call. If the coat sounds matted, or you want something the coat may not do, we will give you a range and confirm the exact price at the coat check rather than guess low and adjust it on you later.

Do plan members pay these prices?

No — a member of The Regular gets 10% off every full groom, and a member of The Full Coat gets 15% off, on top of the free nail trims, ear cleaning and other extras their plan includes. See /packages.html for what each plan covers and the honest arithmetic on when it is actually worth joining.
